In a bid to future proof this house in conservation area, our client wanted to improve the energy efficiency and have a thorough makeover of their home to adjust to new family dynamics.
Our proposal for an extension, carefully designed to redefine the functions, interact with the surroundings and provide comfort and efficiency, has given us the possibility to integrate different strategies and apply several uncommon technical tricks.
The resulting steel-clad addition plays with contrasts and modern language, both outside and inside, where sleek clean lines help paying homage to the exposed brickwork of the original wall.
The natural light gained makes every morning breakfast magical, and the thermal comfort is such than no visitor can believe it.
This retrofit with natural and sustainable materials has been awarded in 2022 with the International Green Apple Environment Award for Beautiful Buildings.
